Boating
Boating Safety
- Know local weather conditions before going boating and continually check for updates
- Do not mix alcohol and boating
- Make sure every passenger has a Coast Guard approved life jacket on at all times
- Children need a child size Coast Guard approved life jacket
- Make sure someone knows you will be on a boat and approximately how long you will be gone
- Two forms of reliable communication should be on board
- Do not rely on cell phone while on a boat
- Don't go out on a boat alone with children
- Be sure to have an emergency action plan in place
- Make sure children are sitting in place and holding on when boat is moving
- Keep an eye on children at all times and stay within an arms length of each other
- The driver of the boat should be a licensed boat driver having completed boating courses
