At Home Water Safety Tips

- Do not leave young children in
the bathtub unsupervised
- Adults should be in charge during bath time, never a younger sibling or the child
- Baby bath seats should be used when an adult is present, not as a safety floatation device
- Make sure the bathtub plug is out of reach and unable to be placed in the plughole/drain
- Drain the bathtub as soon as you are done using it
- Keep bathroom doors closed
- An outside lock or door knob cover can be used to keep young children out of the bathrooms when they are alone.
- Keep toilet seats down and lids shut. Toilet seat locks can be used to keep toilets closed
- Drain laundry tubs and sinks after use, never leave water in them unattended
- Lids to top-loading washing machines should be kept closed
- Empty buckets or containers immediately after use and store them upside down away from children
- Drain wadding pools and flip them upside down after use
- Learn to swim, enroll your child in a swim lesson program
