Bill Schalz- Owner/Program Director
Bill Schalz started his career in Dubuque, IA as the head coach of the Wahlert High School women's team. While there, the Eagles compiled a 24-6 record and a top 10 finish at the Iowa High School State Meet. From 1986-1994, Bill Schalz was the head coach of the Aurora YMCA Swim Team. During those years, the national team grew from one swimmer to sixteen. In 1994, Bill's last year, the YMCA finished 8th a YMCA Nationals (their highest finish ever). Since 1994, bill and Robin (his wife) have been owners of the Academy Bullets Swim Club and the Swim With Bill learn to swim program.
Malarie Schmidt- Site Supervisor (USA)
Malarie has been with Swim With Bill since 2009. Malarie was a four-year state finalist, Varsity letter winner, and team captain at Rosary High School. She attended Miami University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She holds seven Miami University Varsity records and Two Mid-American Conference records. Currently Malarie supervises USA swim lessons, assists with the Elite team of Academy Bullets, is head coach of the Tanglewood Tiger Sharks Swim Team, and coaches at Rosary and Marmion High School.
Misty O'Connell- Site Supervisor (Marmion)
Misty has been both instructor and supervisor and helped develop our TYM program. Currently, she is a site supervisor at Marmion since the summer of 2009. Misty was a 4-year state finalist and varsity letter winner at Rosary High School. She continued her swimming career on a scholarship at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she was a Big 12 Finalist, All American, and Academic All American. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Misty is also a coach at Rosary High School and also assists with the Academy Bullets Bronze Age Group.
Carrie Zant- Site Supervisor (USA)/ Parent Tot
Carrie has been with the Swim With Bill program since the opening of the USA location. She is a Supervisor, teaches Parent - Tot classes, and all lesson levels. Carrie started as a diver at Rosary and continued diving throughout college. She has been coaching diving for the past 20 years and swimming lessons for close to 10 years. Carrie is currently the diving coach at Rosary and is the founder of the Twist-n-Flip Diving Academy.
